A note from the Fort Meade OWC Scholarship Committee
This year, the Ft. Meade Officers’ Wives’ Club is offering
Scholarships for the 2009-2010 school year including:
The Etta Baker Memorial Scholarship
The Merit Scholarship for Continued Learning
The Etta Baker Memorial Scholarship was founded in honor of Etta Baker, a devoted military spouse. While her husband was installation commander here at Fort Meade, she became very involved with the OWC and the post schools. While he was still in command, Etta passed away. Because of her involvement in the Officers’ Wives’ Club and the schools, Colonel Baker established this scholarship in Etta’s memory to benefit those who achieved academic success in high school.
The Merit Scholarship for Continued Learning was established to help those students who are average achievers scholastically, but show through his/her extra-curricular activities and community involvement the enthusiasm to excel.
